We select beam angle and lumen output for each position based on the target size and installation distance. A fixture that looks good in a catalog may produce a completely different result at the actual throw distance from your specific installation point.
- Manufacturer and warranty screening
We only specify fixtures from manufacturers with a proven track record in the Florida market, published photometric data, and meaningful warranty coverage. Many low-cost fixtures carry warranties that are effectively unenforceable — we avoid them regardless of price.

Is brass worth the extra cost over aluminum?
For most Central Florida properties, quality aluminum from a reputable manufacturer holds up well if it's not in a coastal environment or irrigation zone. Brass is worth the premium for properties within 20 miles of the coast, for fixtures in or near water features, and for installations in heavy irrigation zones where fixtures see daily water exposure. We'll tell you where brass is genuinely necessary and where it isn't.
What IP rating do I need for landscape fixtures?
IP65 (dust-tight, jet water resistant) is the minimum for any outdoor landscape fixture. IP67 (submersion to 1 meter for 30 minutes) is appropriate for fixtures in irrigation zones or near water features. IP68 (continuous submersion) is required for fixtures installed in ponds or pools. Using IP65 in an irrigation zone won't fail immediately, but seals typically degrade within 2–3 seasons under regular water pressure exposure.
Can I upgrade fixtures later without rewiring?
Usually yes, if the replacement fixture uses the same mounting type and connector. Spike-mounted to spike-mounted swaps are typically straightforward.
