What IP rating do outdoor kitchen fixtures need?

We recommend IP65 minimum for fixtures within 3 feet of cooking surfaces, and IP65 or better for any fixtures that could receive water spray from sinks or rain. General ambient fixtures further from the kitchen can be IP44 rated.

Can you add lighting under the counter of an existing outdoor kitchen?

Yes, if there is access to run cable and a suitable mounting surface. We assess feasibility during the site visit. Many outdoor kitchens have steel stud frames that make under-cabinet routing straightforward.

Should outdoor kitchen lighting be on a separate zone?

We recommend it. Cooking areas benefit from brighter, more functional lighting, while dining and seating areas do better at a lower, warmer output. Separate zones let you control each independently.

Can outdoor kitchen lighting connect to a smart controller?

Yes. We can integrate your kitchen zones into a smart transformer or controller with app and scene control, including a dedicated "cooking" scene at higher output and an "entertaining" scene at a lower ambient level.

What about lighting for an outdoor bar or serving area?

Bar lighting follows similar principles to the cooking zone: task level over the bar surface, accent level underneath and around. We often use LED strip lights in well-sealed housing for under-bar accenting.

Is a permit required for outdoor kitchen lighting?

Low-voltage landscape lighting does not require a permit in most Central Florida municipalities. Line-voltage electrical work — for outlets, appliances, or 120V fixtures — does require a licensed electrician and may require a permit. We handle only low-voltage work.
