Once we find it, we splice with gel-filled waterproof connectors or replace the run entirely depending on the severity of the damage.

When to Replace the Whole Wire Run
If a wire has multiple breaks, significant jacket cracking, or has been spliced more than twice before, a full replacement run is the smarter investment. Repeated splices add resistance and become future failure points. A fresh direct-burial wire run with proper routing eliminates the cycle of recurring repairs.
Irrigation trenches and aggressive tree root systems are the most common cause of wire damage in Central Florida yards. Rodents nesting in mulch beds also chew through wire jackets, especially during cooler months. Florida's UV index degrades wire jacket insulation significantly faster in shallow or surface-exposed runs, which is why we re-route and bury all repaired wire at the correct depth per low-voltage lighting standards.
